Dugald was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Dubbo Electorate in March 2019.
 
In December 2021, he was appointed as the Minister for Agriculture and Western NSW.
 
Dugald was re-elected as the Member for Dubbo electorate at the March 2023 NSW state election, in May he was elected Leader of the National Party and appointed the Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Resources, and Shadow Minister for Regional NSW.
 
Before entering parliament to represent the region, Dugald was in media (radio and Television) for 27 years including 10 years in Dubbo at ABC Western Plains, along with 2UE in Sydney and 4BC in Brisbane.
 
He’s had a fantastic chance to connect with people right across the region through radio in the past. As the Member for Dubbo Electorate and Leader of the National Party, Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Resources, Shadow Minister for Regional NSW, Dugald is committed to being a strong voice in Parliament, and working hard for the people of the region.
